Challenge Ideas collected from the Mag7Challenge List
Since we're no longer offering monthly challenges, we have opened up the list
so that anyone who has an unused idea, can go ahead and post their challenge.
Challenge 011: by BEM
05/20/07:
There was this episode of Numb3rs, "Burn Rate", with an ATF agent who
had heard of Charlie Epps. Which means that Charlie's past work with the FBI and
NSA has gotten him noticed when it comes to explosive stuff. Now if the ATF
knows of Professor Charlie Epps... What if Larabee's team gets Charlie to
consult for them, and Charlie and JD (or another of the 7) ends up kidnapped?
And why do I keep seeing Ezra kidnapped with Charlie? I'd imagine that Charlie
would find Ezra's speech interesting. (And somewhat similar to Larry's.)
Boy, would Don Eppes be mad at Chris! He might feel that Chris didn't protect
his little baby brother well enough. Can't you just imagine glaring session? Don
can be a tough bad-a** when he needs to be. And imagine when Chris and Don
find out who kidnapped Charlie and the other Mag7 team member. Boy! LOL!
Challenge 010: by BEM

Are there any fans of the Numb3rs tv series here? Just wondering if there are
any Numb3rs/Mag7 ATF crossovers. (hears Don-muse yell all bad-ass way,
"Untie my brother! Now!") That little bit about tied up Vin or Charlie
prompted this from some members of the Numb3rCrunching list... In case you
don't get that bit about Don and Pony, in one ep... "The Art Of
Reckoning" this hit man Pony, whom was on death row, was willing to give
some information about some killings he'd done. And there was one scene where
Don was yelling at Pony, accusing him of lying, and Don looked ready to ram his
fist past Pony's teeth. anyway, here's hoping there's some crossover
between Numb3rs and Mag7. If not, there perhaps I've left some bunnies.
Challenge 009: by BM

I've been seeing a few ficlets on Twisting the Hellmouth where Stitch is
'adopted' by someone other than Lilo. Hm... Now how can we twist this to
fit Mag 7? Either OW or any AU you prefer. (I personally prefer the ATF AU.)
Who adopts Stitch? Ezra? JD? Vin? Nathan? Any ideas? Though I can
see JD adopting Stitch. And why do I see Chris shooting Gantu and Jumba? Or Buck
blowing them up? And what would Stitch do to Ezra's fancy clothes!?

Murdock 01/03/07:
Chris could be a Blk TB;Stallion
Vin Could be a Wild Mustang Stallion
Buck could be a Quarter Horse Stallion
JD could be a Morgan Colt
Josiah could be a Appaloosa [grey]
Nathan could be a American Saddlebred
Ezra could be a TWH Stallion
All could be the color of there own horses. But they are all Stallions.
Thair mares/foals could be capture or killed by Mountain Lions/Wolves/and other
problems. This is a challenge. But, I would like to be mention on
where the idea came from if Possible?

Does anyone else besides me think that Murdock on McGyver looks at least
somewhat like Ezra? I would love to see someone write a story where Murdock
turns out to be some relation to Ezra--possibly his father? some family tree,
huh? And he thought Maude was bad!
I had thought about this myself, but I have too much other stuff on my plate not
getting written now, that I'd never get it done. If you want to know what I was
thinking to use as a starting point, I was going to have Maude marrying Murdock
in her youth, have Ezra, then find out what Murdock did for a living and so
taking their son and going into hiding, which was why she was always moving Ezra
from place to place as a child.....but that's only an idea--I'd be curious to
see what others could come up with!
Challenge 006: BugEyedMonster
10/20/06:
What if Catherine Parker knew Maude Standish? Catherine steals Ezra from the
Centre, then drops him off with Maude. Catherine paid Maude to care for the boy
for a few months, then the plans were for Catherine to show up "when it was
safe" and spirit the boy away to a new permanent family. What if
Maude was, as a professional con artist, a good choice for hiding kids for a few
months while living "off the radar." What if she had done this for
Catherine before? Unfortunately, Catherine never came back to retrieve
Ezra, and about a year later, Maude hears or sees a report or obit that
Catherine is dead.
This could also be worked as a reason why Maude moved around so much or left
Ezra with folks while she went on a con or had a new husband. Perhaps the
Centre had her social flagged. She'd be unable to get legit work with a fake
social. Or the work at best would be only a few months with a fake or stolen
social. And if she suspects that the Centre sweepers might be nearby, then
she might drop off Ezra with someone, while she went to lay a false trail.
Poor little ol' Ezra might have no idea. He might have been too young to
remember the Centre.
And the bunny keeps trying to tell me what happens when the Centre goons show
up. It keeps trying telling me something about Chris and/or Vin blowing stuff
up. And I will admit that while I love Daddy Parker, Lyle and Raines whumping...

Challenge 005: Christine

This came in to my Alias Smith & Jones group. It's also been offered to
Ezra'S Littleverse, but maybe someone here can make something of it: I've
come across some Mag7 Old West stuff (I usually read Mag7 ATF fics.) that are
part of the Little Ezra-verse. Though sometimes one or other of the Mag7 team is
a child as well, like Vin or JD. Anyway, I was wondering if there are any
AS&J fics that cross with Mag7 where Ezra or one of the others is a child. I
like kid-fics and I've read several AS&J fics where Heyes and Curry are
taking care of kid. Or several kids. (Drena Hill's "Jelly Bread Jam
Sandwiches" being one of my faves.) And our boys are good with kids. Just
wondering...

Okay, you don't have to know Stargate too well to do this challenge... And
for those of y'all whom don't know Stargate I'll give a little backstuff... In the Stargate ep Fragile Balance the Asgard alien Loki cloned one General Jack
O'Neill. The Asgard have pointed out that O'Neill (along with some other humans)
is the next step in human evolution. But because Thor had placed some sort
'thing' in Jack's DNA, the clone turned out as a 15 year old boy.
Well, the basis of my bunny is this... an Asgard alien (either Loki or another
of your choice) decides to little-fy several humans whom are the next step in
evolution. If Loki does this, it's he's trying to make things right (by all his
unauthorized experiments) or if it's another Asgard, well the Unnamed Asgard
thinks this will be a great boon for Earth. Look, s/he's helping Earth and the
Great Tau'ri! It is a requirement of this challenge that the littled ones
retain adult knowledge and skills, though you may have skills thrown off by the
new smaller body.
Since this is modern day, I'm assuming this might be ATF. But if you've got
modern version of the Mag7 that you prefer, feel free to indulge. I was
thinking of a Littled Ezra, but you'll get bonus points if you make Vin littled
as well. (With those sharp shooting skills, he's got to be a punch up the
evolutionary card.) Or anyother member you might like to little-fy. Chris, Buck,
Josiah must remain as adults.
Can you imagine a littled Vin falling over backwards when the kick of his weapon
knocks him down? Will he throw a fit? Or get mad at Chris or Buck or another
Mag7 member when they try to comfort him after the fall? Imagine the reactions
of any folks whom might be at the shootin' range when Vin gets upset! How
would littled Ezra react to being little-fied? How will his mom react to her son
being tiny again? How would an adult-minded littled Ezra react if his mother
keeps picking him up and carrying him all the time? What would his reaction be
if he finds that he sort likes being hugged and carried? (This might be for a
loving mother Maude.)
What if Ezra's mom, Maude, is a con-artist? She might want to try to use him in
cons again as a 'grandmother' and 'grandson' would not arouse anyone's
suspicions. Imagine littled Ezra's vocabulary skills in front of other
adults whom certainly don't expect a child to speak like the adult Ezra.
Imagine a littled Vin talking weapons with an adult who sees a child.
Imagine littled Ezra and littled Vin shopping! And in the smaller body,
both Ezra and Vin would get tired more often and need naptimes. And if they get
overtired, they might throw fits. Can you picture littled Ezra or Vin
apologizing for throwing that fit after they wake up from naptime?
Must have the line, "Boy, managing this 5 year old body sure is
tricky." Or if it's Ezra he'd probably say, "The management of this
significantly younger body is frought with difficulties." Any takers?
Challenge 003: BugEyedMonster

Ezra is supposed to be a really good undercover agent. What if one reason he is
soo good is that he's really a Pretender. Maude may or may not be his mother,
but she moved around so much (and sometimes left him with folks) because she was
hiding Ezra from the Centre. This is loving protective mother Maude, but she's
spent time and energy in hiding Ezra from Centre, but without ever telling Ezra
anything about the Centre. And what if the Centre comes knocking?
I'm also thinking that you might be able use "ex-Pretender" on another
mag7 member as well. Though for some reason I'm seeing Ms Parker paired
with Vin.
Challenge 002: BugEyedMonster

Are there any fans of Stargate here? Does anyone want to turn our beautiful boys
into a Stargate team? How would things be different if the boys were serving at
Stargate command? Imagine JD re-wiring a Gou'ald Mothership to go backwards
instead of forward! Who would be a civilian and who would be a military guy?
Challenge 001: BugEyedMonster

This is a crossover with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, post end of the TV series. I
don't remember the entire dream. Just that I was reading Mag7 fic, both regular
and little Ezraverse. Don't know why the Buffy bit came in. Maybe my Xander and
Willow muses thought that they would go good together. Chris is in a bar
in Vegas stinking drunk. Buffy isn't drunk (Buffy and beer are non-mix-y things)
but she still hooks up with Chris. They go back to Buffy's hotel room. (No
they don't wake up married.) Anyway, they are "getting it on" when at,
well, "that" moment, Chris calls out Sarah's name. He's stone cold
sober as soon as he realizes what he said. Buffy starts to tease him about his
"significant other", not knowing Sarah is dead. Chris is feeling like
he's betrayed Sarah somehow. Buffy realizes that he's really upset and grieving,
and she starts telling him about friends she's lost. For some reason, Chris
opens up to Buffy. Anyway.... Buffy calls Chris about a month and a
half later. She wants to know if they can meet in a café. Chris meets her.
She's got something she has to tell him. Guess what?! Yup, she's preggers. At
her announcement, Chris is all quiet. He runs his hand through his hair. Buffy's
waiting for Chris to say something. Chris doesn't say anything, he gets up and
flees the scene. Buffy's stunned and blinking. She sniffles and then says
to her stomach, "That's okay. We don't need him anyway."
And another bit... Faith decides that since Chris made Buffy cry, she's
going to go beat him up. I just remember a little snippet of this. She's
surrounded by the other 6 members, all of whom are pointing their guns at
her. Chris is getting up and stepping back, he's got the beginning of a
black eye, and is wiping blood from his mouth. I wanna' say that Faith cornered
him in an alley and started fighting with him. She refers to Buffy as her
"second greatest enemy" and she got no qualms in stating to team 7
that she's mad at Chris for making her "second greatest enemy"
cry. And yes, team 7 does find out that Faith Lehane is an ex-con with a
murder rap. I don't remember how the other members found out about Buffy,
and her pregnancy. Chris admits that he left her because he was scared s***less
that Buffy and the kid would end up like Sarah and Adam. Of course team 7
(and Judge Travis) have to give Chris a piece of their mind. Or in Judge
Travis's case, a stern talking to. I also remember a bit where at the
dinner table, Buffy and Faith are heckling each other. The Mag 7 team are
looking a bit weirded out by the insults the girls are given each other. At one
point Buffy laughs and tells Chris to "take a chill pill" and JD or
Buck spit out their drink across the table. I'm pretty sure that Xander
and Willow also show up, (Willow made contact with Judge Travis and he knows of
her because she helps the FBI with finding occult-themed serial killers.)
Xander gives the shovel threat, (that he'll hunt Chris down and bludgeon him to
death with a shovel.)
Willow give Chris the threat that she'll turn him into a rat, and feed him to
her cat. At which point Xander and Willow get into a fuss over if that's a good
threat, so Willow then changes her threat to she'll remove the flesh from his
bones, before death. I want to say that either all or part of team 7 heard
Willow's first threat, and the subsequent fuss and change to a new threat.
Anyway, that's all I remember of my dream. I've got no idea how this ended. Or
if and/or how Chris might find out about Buffy's Slayer-ness. Anyway... if
someone wants to play with this...
